Leave Your Mark! Beam Signing Ceremony September 21

This year, our Kindergarten teachers will hold two Open House sessions on Wednesday, August 16th. Each teacher sent out a sign up in their Kindergarten Welcome Letter on Friday, August 4th. Each teacher will host two Open House sessions:

10:00 -11:00 am

1:00-2:00 pm

During this time you and your child will be able to meet their teacher, visit with her, and drop off supplies if you'd like.  You'll also be able to see where your students will line up on the first day of school.

Please know that this is not mandatory, it is an optional time to meet their teacher if you were not able to make Meet the Teacher night or if you'd like to speak with her directly.

Kindergarten Open House

As part of our ongoing efforts to increase the safety and security of our school, we will continue to require all visitors and volunteers to be processed through the Raptor Technologies screening system. All non-staff members wishing to access the school building will need to provide a state / government-issued ID at check in. **Volunteers must reapply each school year.**



**Visitors**

Visitors typically do not work with students unsupervised and are not engaging with regular and ongoing volunteer activities. Utilizing a state or government issued ID, all visitors will be screened against the registered sex offender database.



**Volunteers (including field trip chaperones)**

Volunteers are involved on a more regular and ongoing basis and may be alone with students. All volunteers must complete an application and background check that includes a search of the national criminal database, sex offender list, and terrorist watchlist. **Volunteer Coaches (Middle and High Schools)**

If you are interested in being a volunteer coach, you will need to contact the athletic director of the school. If a volunteer is needed for a sport, you will be invited to interview with the head coach of the team. Once approved, the athletic director will provide you with a document to upload into the Raptor System. The cost of this background check is $15.00.



All visitors and volunteers must sign in and out at the front office, and an approved badge will be provided for you to wear during your school visit.

2023 - 2024 School Supplies List

The Board of Education recently voted to opt in to the Healthy School Meals for All program. The Healthy School Meals for All program provides state funding for Colorado public school districts to serve free, nutritious meals to all K-12 students beginning next school year, 2023 - 2024. A la carte options will continue to be offered on a cost basis

By providing free meals through this program, we believe it will promote equity and increase the number of students who eat a nutritious breakfast and lunch each day.

There are no changes to food service operations for the remainder of this school year, 2022 - 2023; meals will remain a paid option. We will also continue to reach out to you this summer to complete school meal benefit applications (free and reduced lunch applications), as this data may be used to capture other school fee waivers or federal funding.

With the successful passage of bond measure 4B and the forthcoming new schools, we will need to adjust school boundaries in order to balance enrollment districtwide. We look to have extensive community engagement and input in this process, led by the Boundary Committee

The Boundary Committee will ultimately make a recommendation for a final boundary change solution to the Board of Education by …

*   Gathering and considering community input
*   Ensuring a transparent, fair, and balanced process
*   Planning for the district’s immediate needs and the future
*   Allocating district resources equitably
*   Minimizing disruptions to students and their families over the long term
*   Utilizing a data-driven decision-making process

The committee will be comprised of one parent representative from each school (9), one staff representative from each educational level (3), one administrator from each educational level (3), and liaisons from the Board of Education (1), Windsor-Severance Education Association (1), Transportation Department (1), and Exceptional Student Services Department (1). The group will meet approximately six times from June through November, and a regular progress report will be provided to the Board of Education.

[**Applications for the Boundary Committee are open now through noon Friday, May 19**](https://forms.gle/ojF7vb5TzH4n7kfU9)\*\*.\*\*The Superintendent will form a committee to review and interview selected candidates, and will then bring the recommended slate of candidates before the Board of Education for approval.
